WCSO Community Education Series

The WCSO just announced the next installment of our community education and engagement events, the WCSO Community Education Series. This three-part educational series consisting of six different topic areas will be facilitated/instructed by Sheriff Clayton. Each topic area will consist of a 40 minute classroom discussion followed by a question and answer period.

Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office K9 Bady to get Body Armor

Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office K9 Bady will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Bady’s vest is sponsored by Theodore Sippel of Manchester, MI and will be embroidered with the sentiment “Good Luck from Ted”. Delivery is expected within eight to ten weeks.

WCSO & Human Society of Huron Valley looking for person(s) who killed a family of swans

Sometime around 6:15 a.m. on August 10th, 2016 a family of swans in the area of Parker Rd. and Scio Church Rd. were run over. Deputies were called to the area by numerous concerned citizens. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that 4 juvenile swans and one adult swan had been run over and killed.

WCSO, YPD & Ypsilanti Community Schools put on their first Junior Police Academy

WCSO, YPD & Ypsilanti Community Schools put on their first Junior Police Academy

The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, Ypsilanti Police Department and the Ypsilanti Community School District partnered this summer to run the 2016 Junior Police Academy. The academy was held at Ypsilanti High School over a three-week period and allowed 14 middle school age students (6th, 7th and 8th graders) to attend a mini police academy.
