The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, Ypsilanti Police Department and the Ypsilanti Community School District partnered this summer to run the 2016 Junior Police Academy. The academy was held at Ypsilanti High School over a three-week period and allowed 14 middle school age students (6th, 7th and 8th graders) to attend a mini police academy.
On Wednesday, July 27, 2016, in cooperation with the U.S. Marshal’s Office, Washtenaw Metro-SWAT, and the Westland Police Department, the Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant resulting in the arrest of the suspect in the July 22nd, 2016 shooting in Superior Township.
A national effort to educate businesses on the simple steps to improve online safety is coming to Washtenaw County.
Sheriff Jerry Clayton & Congresswoman Debbie Dingell Invite the Community to a Unity Town Hall Event
On Thursday, July 21, 2016 the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office and Congresswoman Debbie Dingell are planning to bring our community together to hold a community Unity Town Hall to talk with one another, to begin discussing how we can come together, and how we as a community can address the anger, frustration, fear, lack of communication, and issues around race, poverty and policing.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable summer. With summer in full swing, the lakes and rivers are a great place for recreational opportunities such as boating, fishing, kayaks and canoes.
