It will soon be easier for Washtenaw County residents who lack proper identification to access local public and private services such as the police, hospitals and banks. The Washtenaw County Clerk – Vital Records Division will begin issuing Washtenaw County ID Cards on June 1, 2015 to residents who meet application standards.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. As has become a tradition in Washtenaw County, a ceremony marking Peace Officer’s Memorial Day was held at the Washtenaw 100 Club Memorial Park today, Friday, May 15th, 2015 at 10:00AM. The park is located on Michigan Avenue at Ballard Street in Ypsilanti.
Following a challenging selection process for both handlers and dogs, two (2) new police service dog teams were authorized for service by Cmdr. Marlene Radzik this past Friday, May 8th, 2015.
Enhancing Police And Community Trust pulled 30 residents from across Washtenaw County and 30 officers from every police agency in the county for a day long workshop on building relationships.
Washtenaw County Public Health and Food Gatherers are now offering healthy food distribution on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month. The next distribution dates are September 9 and September 23 from 2-3:30 pm.
