Sheriff’s Detectives recently ended a six (6) year investigation into a heart wrenching homicide with convictions of both suspects. On August 18th, 2006, a break in and brutal assault resulted in the murder of William Samuel Kenney at the former Jim Bradley Pontiac-GMC Buick auto dealership in Scio Township.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Frozen Leap team, the Polar Pigs (Pride, Integrity, Guts) showed up in full force on Saturday, February 16th, 2013. The Frozen Leap took place in the icy waters of Ford Lake where employees of the Sheriff’s Office and many other community members took the plunge into the icy waters.

On January 24th, 2013 the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office responded to Webster Township for a home invasion in progress. Corporal John Scafasci engaged in a vehicle pursuit and subsequent foot chase resulting in the arrest of both suspects.

If you've never heard of the Ford Lake Frozen Leap all you need to know is that this year you can see your fellow Sheriff Office employees, also known as “The WCSO Polar Pigs”, jumping into Ford Lake while it's freezing outside!
On Sunday February 3, 2013, Sheriff Jerry L. Clayton announced that Sergeant Marlene Radzik had been promoted as the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office next Police Services Lieutenant.
