On 5/29/13, Deputies Dan Buffa and Kevin Hause responded to a vehicle fire on Ohio Street in Ypsilanti Township. Partnering with Detective Craig Raisanen, their investigation revealed that Derrell Evans burned the vehicle owned by his soon to be ex-girlfriend. Following the vehicle fire, Evans continued to seriously threaten and attempt to intimidate witnesses, eventually fleeing the State. He was subsequently located in Nevada and extradited back to Michigan in September.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Frozen Leap team, Squeal Team Six, may have only had four members this year, but they were still at the top of their game.
The 6th Annual Ford Lake Frozen Leap is set for Saturday, February 15th, 2014. If you've never heard of the Ford Lake Frozen Leap all you need to know is that you can see your fellow Sheriff Office employees, also known as “Squeal Team Six”, jumping into Ford Lake while it's freezing outside!
Deputy Gerrod Visel and his canine partner, Karn, visited Wylie Elementary School in Dexter to perform a demonstration to assist his son, Brayden, during a speech on police service dogs and their training.
Infrastructure Management, in partnership with key stakeholders and department leaders, evaluated all County space, both owned and leased. The evaluation included a review of individual departmental operations, current floor plans, and programmatic operational efficiencies and effectiveness of infrastructure support. Infrastructure Management recommended to and received approval from the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners for the following space adjustments.
