On Tuesday, March 11th, 2014 Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Underwater Search and Recovery Team (USRT) members Sgt. Cook, Cpl. Pasternak and Cpl. Mercure responded to the Huron River in Scio Township where a dog was being swept down the river.

Retired WCSO Deputy Stanley McFadden Honored with Retirement Badge

On March 1st, 2014 Retired Deputy Sheriff Stanley McFadden was presented with his retirement badge and ID card. Deputy McFadden was an Ann Arbor Police Officer who was relentless in his duties once pursuing and capturing a fleeing felon for over a mile through the sewers of Ann Arbor. The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office hired McFadden as a Deputy Sheriff in April of 1965. During his tenure he was also part of the Underwater Search and Recovery Team (USRT).

Corporal Mike Williams, lead investigator, with Corporals Steve Wallen, Jeff Saren and Tom Mercure did an outstanding job of managing and conducting the kind of detailed on-scene investigation required in such a matter.

In order to minimize the loss of life, personal injury, property damage, and environmental impact associated with the use of recreational boats, citizens who are involved in boating activities are strongly encouraged to attend these classes.
