14A District Court - SalineRibbon cutting ceremony on Monday, August 17th, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. to celebrate the opening of the new 14A District Court facility in the City of Saline.

The Honorable Kirk W. Tabbey, Chief Judge of the 14A District Court; the Honorable Richard E. Conlin, Chief Judge Pro Tempore of the 14A District Court; and the Honorable J. Cedric Simpson,  Judge of the 14A District Court, have scheduled a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, August 17th, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. to celebrate the opening of Phase One of the new 14A District Court facility in the City of Saline.  The new 7000 square foot court building is located at 1000 N. Maple Road, on the northern border of the city.  Guided tours will be available throughout the day, from 8:00 to 4:00 on a drop in basis.

The new court facility re-establishes the District Court's presence in the greater Saline area completing the court's regional justice services framework.  The other 14A District Court facilities are located in Chelsea, Ypsilanti and at the County Service Center in Pittsfield Township.

Intended as a full service building, Phase One  of the 14A District Court site in Saline includes a courtroom, judicial chambers, jury deliberation space, clerk's office, probation office, Sheriff's lock-up, and dedicated conference space for the Prosecutor, Public Defender and private bar.  It will serve all of Washtenaw County but, in particular, it will serve the south-central and western area of the County; an area whose growth in population and housing units has exceeded that of the County as a whole.  This includes but is not limited to the Cities of Saline and Milan; the Townships of Bridgewater, Freedom, Lodi, Manchester, Saline, Sharon and York; and the Village of Manchester.

The court will be open Tuesday through Friday 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and Mondays 12:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.  Improved access, more timely adjudication and improved customer service are expected benefits of this new court facility.

For the purpose of the Grand Opening only, Saline Schools have offered overflow parking across Maple Road, at the Saline Middle School.

Questions may be directed to Gene DeRossett, Court Administrator at (734) 484-9655, extension 249.
