The award recognized MSU Extensions at Washtenaw and Macomb Counties for their contributions over the past year made to address the impact that foreclosures have had on their communities.  In the presentation at the conference MSHDA recognized Washtenaw County as a model for collaboration and highlighted their partnership with other counseling agencies to strengthen foreclosure prevention efforts in our community.  The MSU Extension staff were also recognized for voluntarily mentoring new counselors from other agencies and assisting with servicing questions, processes and best practices. 

The award was made possible through the partnerships with the Washtenaw County Treasurer, Community Development, Housing Bureau for Seniors, Legal Services of South Central Michigan, Community Housing Alternatives, POWER, Inc., and Habitat for Humanity.

On June 8, the Washtenaw County MSU Extension Office hosted a luncheon in honor of the state recognition.  A special tribute, signed by each of our legislators, was presented by Senator Randy Richardville, chair of the Senate Banking and Financial
Institutions Committee.
