Housing Grants
Washtenaw County and the City of Ann Arbor Office of
Community Development has applied for $19,750,000 from the Dept. of Housing
and Urban Development\'s second round of Neighborhood Stabilization Program
funds (NSP 2). NSP 2 funds can be used to:
- acquire and rehabilitate abandoned and foreclosed residential properties
- demolish blighted properties
- re-develop vacant properties as housing.
The funds can only be used in NSP 2 eligible areas. HUD will be announcing the award recipients in October/November of 2009.
The County has already been awarded $3,026,0000 in NSP I funds and the City of Ann Arbor has been awarded $850,000. Citizens who wish to apply for down payment assistance to purchase an abandoned or foreclosed home, must:
- contact MSU Extension at 734 997-1678 and complete a homebuyer education course through the Washtenaw Housing Education Partners
- have an income at or below 120% of the Area Median Income which is $71,600 for a 1-person household and $102,200 for a 4 person household.
Contractors who wish to bid on rehabilitation jobs must get pre-qualified by submitting an application and attending a contractor training to be approved. See contractor application and resources.
