4-H Citizenship/Leadership Academy

MSU Extension's 4-H Citizenship/Leadership Academy offers youth the opportunity to work with caring employees from various County government departments for a job shadow experience.  This impactful program provides our youth the opportunity to connect with "real life" community issues and to build their knowledge of how state and local government operates.

The 4-H Citizenship/Leadership Academy Program provides an interactive, after school opportunity for high school students who are Washtenaw County residents to work with other teens and adult staff to:

  • Identify youth related issues important to you
  • Tour County government facilities
  • Learn the issues identification process
  • Gain leadership & citizenship skills
  • Build an online community
  • Serve in the community
  • Job Shadow to learn about careers in public service
