Youth Day of Caring - May 10
The third annual Youth Day of Caring on May 10, 2008, a collaboration with WATT (Washtenaw Area Teens for Tomorrow), Washtenaw County Government, Washtenaw Community College, the Girl Scouts of the Huron Valley Council, Michigan State Extension 4-H and Washtenaw United Way, connects youth student volunteers ages 13 to 18 from Washtenaw County public and private schools to work on projects, and volunteers ages 18 to 24 to serve as site leaders.
- 8 a.m.—9:15 a.m. —Site Leader Orientation Breakfast
- 10 a.m. — Site Leaders and Volunteers report to project sites
- 10 a.m.—3 p.m. — Site Leaders and youth student volunteers complete work projects

Youth volunteers have an opportunity to learn about the services
each agency provides before getting to work. Some of the projects this year
are: painting outdoor play sets; gardening; raking and planting flowers;
prepping flower and strawberry beds; meal delivery to senior citizens;
recreating bulletin boards; washing toys; organizing materials, supplies
and donations, just to name a few.
