Public Health Portal Launched
The Public Health Department web team began this portal
project about a year ago after seeing how fantastic the Environmental Portal looked - and worked. The web
project team felt this image based alternative would be an easier way
for people to access information about the programs available in Public
Health, with the added capacity to link them to services in local
communities.
“We were lucky to have Tom Winebrenner, an Environmental Quality Analyst in the Planning & Environment Department, join our project team. Tom is a very talented artist who created the portal drawing. He accommodated our many changes along the way and we really appreciated his patience, understanding, and time spent drawing and re-drawing our portal”, said Julie Stafford, web team leader.
Effective web portals have a consistent look and feel which make it easier for people to find what they’re looking for. The Public Health portal is a picture with links embedded to all sorts of health information. All people have to do is let their mouse hover over a category, and simply click to go to a landing page which is organized in a way that will allow them to easily find the information they’re looking for.
“We all know how cumbersome it can be to navigate through a web site, we’re just hoping to make finding what people need a little easier”, said Ellen Clement, Washtenaw County Public Health Director.
