Washtenaw Is Top Ten Digital County – Again!

Digital Counties Award logoFor the 3rd year in a row, Washtenaw County has been named one of the nation’s Top Ten Digital Counties by the Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties (NACo).

This is the fifth time in the last six years that Washtenaw County has been ranked in the top ten.

The annual study by the Center and the National Association of Counties (NACo) identifies county governments using information technology in increasingly innovative ways while improving service to their citizens.

“The Digital Counties Survey continues to document the technological progress and innovation of county governments. Improved service to citizens and more efficient use of government resources are the results,” said Center Executive Director, Cathilea Robinett said,

“It really takes a team effort to have the kind of performance we have had over the last 6 years. We’ve got a great team in IT, and tremendous support from our Board of Commissioners,” says Deputy County Administrator David Behen.

Dale Vanderford, Director of Technology and Operations was pleased. “We’re proud of the fact that we’ve been in the top ten 5 out of the 6 years. We try very hard to be responsive to our customers’ needs.  It's nice to have this annual check-in to help us see where we match up with our peers around the country.”

To recognize the hard work and innovation of the best governments, the survey’s top digital counties were honored at a national awards ceremony last week at NACo’s national conference in Kansas City, Missouri.
