New Expanded 18 Hole Disc Golf Course

Adam Harman at Hole 1 of the RH Disc Golf CourseThe first Disc Golf course in Washtenaw County opened at Rolling Hills County Park, in 1986 and was expanded from 9 to 18 holes in 2004.  The course offers a natural, rolling terrain in a wooded setting and includes paved amateur and pro tee pads, individual hole signage and a practice area. For amateurs, the par 70 course measures 4,504 feet in length and for professional players, par is 54 and the course measures 5,548 feet.

If you’re unfamiliar with disc golf, it is played similarly to traditional golf. Players begin playing each hole from a designated area (a "tee") and count how many throws it takes them to put the disc in the "hole". The hole is a metal basket mounted on a pole approximately two feet above the ground. A chain assembly attached above the basket serves as a "backboard" – it catches the disc and causes it to fall into the basket. The length and par for a hole is indicated on a sign at each tee area. If you’re playing with a group of people, the lowest score wins.
