A rain garden is a sunken flower garden that collects rain water from your roof or driveway. The garden uses some water to grow and lets the rest seep slowly into the ground. This helps protect our rivers and lakes by recharging groundwater slowly over time. Rain gardens also provide essential habitats for birds and butterflies. Over the past two years, over thirty individuals have created their own rain gardens with help from Janis Bobrin, Washtenaw County Drain Commissioner. |
