JOB SUMMARY
***ALL POSITIONS WITHIN COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO ASSIST WITH DRUG TESTING. COMPLETION OF THE WASHTENAW COUNTY CLERICAL, TYPING, AND DATA ENTRY TESTS IS REQUIRED FOR APPLICANTS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION. TESTING IS PROVIDED EVERY WEDNESDAY MORNING AT 9:00 AM AT THE LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER (LRC)LOCATED AT 4135 WASHTENAW AVE, ANN ARBOR, MI 48108***
Under the direction and supervision of a higher classified employee, is responsible for working directly with individuals who have recently been arrested and processed in to the Washtenaw County Jail. Is responsible for conducting interviews, investigations, and verifying information provided by defendants, which will be reviewed by the Court at the time of arraignment.
This position is with the Washtenaw County Sheriff-Community Corrections Division and duties are performed within the Washtenaw County Jail.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
  • Comprehensive review of defendant records in the Washtenaw County Jail. Including, but not limited to, review of court dockets, criminal case histories, and the processing of LEIN information
  • Interviewing of felony and misdemeanor defendants soon after arrest.
  • Investigation into residence, employment, mental health status and other information required by the Court.
  • Verification of information obtained through the interview and investigation process.
  • Performs screening and assessment using a comprehensive tool to determine appropriate program placement and utilization.
  • Develops and maintains all applicable reports and records.
  • Performs administrative duties as required (i.e. faxing, filing, phone calls, composes and writes correspondence, and use of a variety of electronic forms and documents).
  • Updates and maintains databases. Enters data into computer and manual record systems.
  • Assists and interacts with various Sheriff Department personnel, Court personnel, and outside agencies in order to accomplish goals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Duties require sufficient mobility to work in a normal office setting and use standard office equipment including a computer, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person or over the telephone.

EDUCATION
Minimum of a High School Diploma.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 2 years experience working in a Correctional Facility.
