Dog and Kennel Licenses in Washtenaw County

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Dog with tagDog licenses are sold in accordance with the provisions of the Dog Law of 1919 as amended. State law requires that “on or before March 1 of each year, the owner of a dog shall apply for a dog license for each dog owned or kept.”  Licenses are sold in Washtenaw County on a year-round basis with the expiration of the license on the last day of the year.

All dogs in Washtenaw County over four months of age must be vaccinated against rabies before a license can be issued.  The vaccinations must remain current in order for owners to obtain annual dog licenses.

You can buy an annual license beginning December 1 for the following year.

A Washtenaw County dog tag could help get your dog back home should it become lost or stolen.  This is your pet's way of "calling home".  A current tag tells animal control officers that a dog has a human companion whose contact information should be on file and rapidly accessible.

To acquire a license for your special dog, you will need to submit the following:

The fee schedule for dog licenses is set by resolution of the County Board of Commissioners, 1981, for licenses sold through the Treasurer's Office.  The annual fees for dog licenses are as follows:
