Washtenaw County law enforcement officials in partnership with county public schools are hosting two forums to provide information and awareness of active shooter training. Parents, particularly, are encouraged to attend one of the sessions.
Whether your interest is in fishing, sailing, canoeing or water-skiing, boating education is essential. The WCSO Marine Division offers many Boater Safety Courses each year. In order to minimize the loss of life, personal injury, property damage, and environmental impact associated with the use of recreational boats, citizens who are involved in boating activities are strongly encouraged to attend these classes. On 5/29/13, Deputies Dan Buffa and Kevin Hause responded to a vehicle fire on Ohio Street in Ypsilanti Township. Partnering with Detective Craig Raisanen, their investigation revealed that Derrell Evans burned the vehicle owned by his soon to be ex-girlfriend. Following the vehicle fire, Evans continued to seriously threaten and attempt to intimidate witnesses, eventually fleeing the State. He was subsequently located in Nevada and extradited back to Michigan in September.
