Suspect Michael Curtis sentenced in 2nd Degree Murder and 1st Degree Child Abuse Case.

During the early morning hours of October 21st, 2012, Deputies Joshua Arts, Nicholas Krings and John Cratsenburg responded to the report of a child possibly choking in the 1000 block of Fall River in Ypsilanti Township. The first Deputy to arrive, Deputy Arts, found no signs of life in fourteen (14) month old Chase Miller and immediately initiated cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Sheriff & Prosecutor’s Offices achieve conviction on Unlawful Imprisonment, Assault and Criminal Sexual Conduct Case.

On 03/21/12, Deputies Heather Morrison and Chad Teets responded to an Ypsilanti Township address to investigate the alleged false imprisonment and assault of a female. Upon their arrival it was determined that the female had been held at the residence against her will for over thirty (30) hours by her then boyfriend Dajuan Roberts. During the time she was held, she sustained multiple injuries, including knife wounds and a “branding” injury where Roberts had burned his initials into a portion of her body with a hot coat hanger during one of several assaults. She reported that she had been repeatedly sexually assaulted by Roberts during the course of her imprisonment.

WCSO Hall of Honor Dedication Ceremony

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. As a part of marking Police Week in Washtenaw County, Sheriff Jerry L. Clayton and the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office will be holding a Dedication Ceremony for the newly created “Hall of Honor” to remember and honor Sheriff’s Office personnel who have paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving our community.
