Office of the Sheriff
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. As has become a tradition in Washtenaw County, a ceremony marking Peace Officer’s Memorial Day will be held at the Washtenaw 100 Club Memorial Park this year on Thursday, May 15th, 2014 at 10:00AM. The park is located on Michigan Avenue at Ballard Street in Ypsilanti.
No text is worth dying for. That’s why the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office and LaFontaine Automotive Group are joining AT&T to help save lives through It Can Wait, the national movement to end texting and driving. Texting and driving is a national epidemic and a life-threatening issue that affects us all.
On April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its eighth opportunity in three years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your pills for disposal to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Service Center at 2201 Hogback Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48105. (The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches.) The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
