Scheduling Visits

Each inmate is allowed one twenty minute visit per week. Only one visit may be scheduled per day, although two visitors are allowed per visiting time slot. Visitors will be required to submit visiting requests at 24 hours prior to the proposed visit.
The general public will be permitted to schedule inmate visitation Monday through Friday By telephone only between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. To schedule a visit, please call 734-973-4363.
The following is a list of days available for male inmate visits:
All visits take place between the hours of 1:10 pm and 3:40 pm and 5:40 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in twenty minute blocks. Visits are scheduled on a first come first serve basis and may be denied due to no contact orders from the courts or inmate disciplinary actions. An inmate that has been sentenced to prison may have their personal property released to a visitor Monday through Friday during scheduled visiting times. This process must be scheduled by the visitor Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. only (734-973-4363).
- Last names beginning with the letters A-F may have visits on Mondays. - Last names beginning with the letters G-N may have visits on Tuesdays.
- Last names beginning with the letters 0-S may have visits on Wednesdays.
- Last names beginning with the letters T-Z may have visits on Thursdays.

- Visitors are encouraged to report 15 minutes early for their visit.
- Only two adult visitors will be allowed per visiting time slot.
- Visitors under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
- All visitors will be required to show proper identification at the front desk before being allowed to enter the visiting area. Examples of proper identification are as follows:

- A valid state drivers license or state ID card
- Military identification with picture
- A valid passport or Immigration ID w/picture
- Visitors will be subject to electronic and physical searches when entering the visiting area.
- Visitors are encouraged not to bring unnecessary items such as bags, purses, backpacks, cell phones etc. into the facility. All items will be searched.
- Visitors may not bring any kind of weapons, drugs or alcohol into the visiting area. This includes pocket knives and multi-tools.
- Visitors under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be denied access to the facility.
- Visitors will be asked to turn off and refrain from using cell phones while in the facility.
- Smoking is not permitted inside this building.
- Food and drinks are strictly prohibited in the visiting area.
- Visitors who bring children are responsible for those children and may be asked to leave if the children create a disturbance.
- Appropriate language will be expected at all times.
- Loud or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
- Visitors who destroy County property will be held responsible for the damages.
- Cell phones are prohibited in the visiting area.
- Visitors who fail to comply with any of the visiting rules or procedures may be placed on permanent visiting restrictions.
Please Note:
- All efforts will be made to schedule visits in a timely manner.
- Please be aware that visits are scheduled on a first come first serve basis.
- Visitors who miss two or more visits may be subject to visiting restrictions.
- Property releases and clothing exchanges (for the sole purpose of trial) can be made on an inmate's proposed visiting day. Visitors wishing to have property released to them must notify the visiting officer at the time they schedule the visit. Inmates may also notify the Visiting Officer about property releases via kite, but must do so at least one day prior to their scheduled visit.
- The Visiting Officer will not accept any articles of food, mail or other items for inmates.
- All mail must be sent through the US Postal Service with a valid return address.
- Money for inmate accounts may be left at the Front Desk between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

All Inmate mail should be addressed as follows:

Note: Be sure to include a valid return address in the upper left hand corner of your envelope!
The following is a list of items that are unauthorized and cannot be accepted in any inmate’s personal correspondence. If any of these items are found, the entire envelope and its contents will be returned to sender.
- Cash
- Personal Checks/Payroll Checks
- Postage Stamps, Envelopes, Stationary, Pre-printed address labels
- Musical or Novelty type Greeting Cards
- Oversized Greeting Cards (Maximum allowed is 5x7)
- Calendars
- Polaroid Photographs
- Nude, partially nude, or sexually explicit photos
- Photos suggesting or depicting “gang” colors, gestures, or allegiance
- Photos may be no larger than 4x6, and are limited to 5 to their possession
- Magazines and Newspapers mailed from other than the Publisher will not be accepted. All subscriptions must be Pre-Paid , and Pre-Approved at this facility.
- All books must be received from the PUBLISHER and must be soft-covered. Books will not be accepted from bookstores or retailers i.e. Borders, Barnes and Noble, etc..
- Letters and/or envelopes that are sealed with or contain Lipstick, Perfume, Toothpaste, Glue, Glitter, Stickers, Staples, Metal Objects, Metal Fasteners, or any other foreign adhesive
We regret that we cannot forward any mail to inmates that are transferred to other facilities. We will make every effort to return the mail to the sender.
Return to TopIndividuals are allowed to deposit money into an inmate's store account. You can deposit as much money as you wish. The deposit is usually credited to the inmate's account the following business day. This can be accomplished by doing the following:
- Mailing a money order, or certified check, made payable to the inmate, to the Washtenaw County Correctional Facility at 2201 Hogback Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48105.
- Depositing cash, certified check or money order at the WCSO Front Desk during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Inmates are provided with personal necessities to last for a few days, after which they are required to purchase their own items. The inmates can purchase items ranging from candy bars to pillows. Inmates are allowed to purchase items once a week, through the Correctional Facility's commissary.
Arraignments are held at the Correctional Facility on a daily basis. These arraignments usually begin at either 1:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m., depending upon the presiding Magistrate. Arraignments are available for viewing in the lobby area of the Correctional Facility via remote camera. Arraignments are also held in the various courts throughout Washtenaw County. These arraignments are usually in the morning and can be viewed by members of the general public. You should contact the arresting agency or the Correctional Facility for arraignment information. All inmates are transported to and from the various courts simultaneously. When all of the arraignments are completed, the inmates are returned to the facility. This process may take several hours. If you arrive at the Correctional Facility to pick up someone, anticipate a delay in processing. A recently released inmate is allowed to place local telephone calls in order to obtain transportation. Inmates who are assigned a bond can be released provided: (1) the bond is met and; (2) no other police agency has requested to take physical possession of the inmate. The bond information can be obtained by contacting the WCSO Correctional Facility . The bond must be posted at the court of jurisdiction between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Bonds can also be posted at the WCSO Correctional Facility after 5:00 p.m., and on weekends and holidays. You can also make arrangements to post an out-of-county bond at the facility by contacting correctional staff at (734) 973-4770.
