On January 24th, 2013 the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office responded to Webster Township for a home invasion in progress. Corporal John Scafasci engaged in a vehicle pursuit and subsequent foot chase resulting in the arrest of both suspects.
In observance of Memorial Day, May 27th, 2013, the Records, Civil, and Inmate Visitation Operations will be closed. The Service Desk will have reduced hours of 11AM-1PM. Normal business hours will resume at 8:00 A.M. Monday, June 3rd, 2013. For any non-emergency police services, call (734) 994-2911.
Arrests on the rise, home invasions on the decline in Washtenaw County.
Washtenaw County law enforcement officials in partnership with county public schools are hosting two forums to provide information and awareness of active shooter training. Parents, particularly, are encouraged to attend one of the sessions.
On Friday, March 22nd, 2013, Sheriff Jerry L. Clayton hosted a retirement luncheon for Corporal Mark Mesko, a senior staff member of the Sheriff’s Office, honoring his 34 years of exemplary service, 25 of which were served in road patrol.
Expanded enforcement could mean more unbuckled motorists find themselves on the receiving end of a $65 penalty. Starting today, law enforcement agencies across the state are stepping up seat belt enforcement for the annual Click It or Ticket campaign that seeks to reduce traffic deaths and injuries by increasing belt use.

Sheriff’s Office Closes Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm & Unlawful Imprisonment Case with Convictions of Both Suspects
On the afternoon of August 10th, 2012, Julien Butler was lured to a convenience store in the City of Ypsilanti and forced into a vehicle at gunpoint by Allan Tomlinson and Clinton Desir. Traveling to a rural area in Superior Township with the alleged intent to kill Butler, the suspects shot Butler approximately eight (8) times. They fled the scene when interrupted by a passing vehicle. Butler survived his life threatening wounds.
Paul Joseph Creps was sentenced yesterday to 10-15 years in prison for the sexual assault of two (2) underage girls in Ypsilanti Township.
Comprised of highly trained and certified divers from multiple divisions’ within the Sheriff’s Office, the Underwater Search and Recovery Team (USRT) is responsible for water recovery operations within the County and is active in community in a variety of different capacities.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2015 in observance of Presidents’ Day. Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, February 17, 2015.
On April 27th, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its sixth opportunity in three years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your medications (no liquids please) for disposal to the Sheriff’s Office at 2201 Hogback Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48105. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
