Manchester Kiwanis Club honors Corporal Kevin Blanchard as Officer of the Year

Each year the Manchester Kiwanis Club chooses a Police Officer and Firefighter of the Year. This year they honored Corporal Kevin Blanchard and a Manchester Firefighter. Recipients of this award display characteristics that the community finds admirable, not just based on an event or two, but upon an entire years’ worth of service to the community. The choice is made with the assistance of command officers.

BlanchardKCorporal Blanchard recently transitioned from the Eastern side of the county to the Western side.  His responsibilities extend throughout the entire community from providing safety and security services for community events, engaging in ordinance enforcement, and providing community-based policing services.

A senior employee of the Sheriff’s Office, Corporal Blanchard has served in many different assignments and areas throughout his career such as corrections, major crimes, motor unit, and mounted patrol.  He also participates in the youth trap shooting events with local high school trap shooting teams. Corporal Blanchard received the award at a small ceremony at the Historical Society building along with the Manchester Fire Fighter of the Year.  Photographs of the event are still pending.
