Community Notification – K9 Unit Training Simulations

The Sheriff's Office K9 Unit will be engaged in training simulations in the City of Dexter on Sunday morning, April 23rd, 2017.

K9The simulations involve physically challenging tracking scenarios.  The Unit engages in this particular training about twice a year in different areas of the County.  There may be very brief moments of limited blank gunfire and rapidly dispersing clouds of smoke.  The dogs will be leashed and under the handler’s direct control.  The teams will be operating on private properties in the area.  There will be Sheriff's Office marked and unmarked cars in the area.  If you don’t actually drive through the area and see them, it is unlikely those who live in the area will even be aware of their presence.

The duration will be a few hours, from about 8:00 a.m. until about 12:00 noon.  A very friendly group, please say hello if you happen to be passing by.  This is a special unit.  Numerous suspects in both property crimes and crimes against persons have been identified and arrested solely because of the dog’s presence and abilities.  If you have questions, please feel free to contact Lt. Kurt Schiappacasse at (734) 260-0315.

Thank you for your support.
