WCSO Partners with West Willow Community for a Very Successful 2016 Fall Festival

On Saturday October 29th, from 11 am to 5 pm the WCSO, the New West Willow Neighborhood Association, and West Willow Community members partnered to hold the 2016 Community Fall Festival.

West Willow Fall Festival 2016The WCSO and U of M Health Systems held health screenings in the WCSO Mobile Command Unit (thank you Det. Sinks and Dep. Ballou). Active games (Zombie Walks) and contests were held at West Willow Park. The West Willow Community Resource Center (CRC) was filled with families listening to music, laughing and eating. Kids were painting pumpkins donated by Sheriff Clayton and getting their faces painted by Deputy Alysha Dyer. An impromptu football game was organized by WCSO Outreach Coordinator Marvin Gundy. The Children’s Literacy Network donated almost 200 new books for young people of all ages which the children loved--only six were left at the end of the day. From 3 pm to 5 pm a “Trunk or Treat” was held with candy given away from the trunks of community members, WCSO staff, the Ypsilanti District Library and SOS. Over 225 people attended this wonderful community event.
