WCSO Community Education Series Session 5 – Registration Open!

Sheriff Jerry L. Clayton and the WCSO with the support of the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners, BOC Chair Felicia Brabec, and County Administrator Greg Dill, would like to announce the fifth installment of our WCSO community education series.

This session will focus on the criminal elements of the Ethnic Intimidation Statute (Hate Crimes) and will feature the Michigan Department of Civil Rights as they discuss how they respond to allegations of discrimination. We will also discuss the impact these incidents have on our children and how best to help them navigate an intimidating climate.

Session Five: November 21st at Washtenaw Community College Morris Lawrence Building (6-8pm) will discus:

Topic area 9 - Criminal Elements of the Ethnic Intimidation Statute (Hate Crimes)
Topic area 10 - Responding to Allegations of Discrimination
Topic area 11 - Helping our Children and Adolescents Navigate an Intimidating Climate

Each session will be facilitated/instructed by Sheriff Clayton and will consist of a 40 minute class room discussion of each topic area followed by a question and answer period. If you are interested in learning the specifics behind these topics please join us.

Our Just 'Cause sessions are intimate discussions between the community and deputies over lunch. Our ENPACT workshops are solution focused, all day working sessions between 30 community members and 30 deputies. Our Town Hall meeting gathered over 600 residents in a discussion with community leaders. Now, our educational series will offer great detail to the six most commonly questioned aspects of law enforcement.
