Washtenaw County Law Enforcement Agencies Collaborate to Hold Gun Safety Week 2014
All the law enforcement agencies in Washtenaw County have joined together to help make our County and our residents safer, by holding a Gun Safety Week July 20th through July 26th, 2014. The purpose of the Washtenaw County Gun Safety Week is to educate and raise awareness about issues related to gun safety and encourage responsible gun ownership.
Some of the law enforcement agencies will be giving away free gun locks to the public. Please contact your local agency if you would like a free gun lock. As a reminder, firearms are not permitted on either the University of Michigan or Eastern Michigan University campuses. All of the law enforcement agencies will have information about gun safety and how residents can help keep themselves and their families safe. The Washtenaw County Board of Commission will pass a resolution on July 9th declaring the week of July 20th through July 26th as Gun Safety Week in Washtenaw County. Other local governing bodies may also pass similar resolutions.
The Washtenaw County law enforcement agencies and community partners will be holding a press conference to help raise aware- ness about responsible firearm ownership and publicize Gun Safety Week 2014. Representatives of law enforcement agencies will be on hand to talk about how we can keep our community, families and children safer. The press conference will take place Thurs- day July 10th at 11:30 am in front of the main entrance to the WCSO, 2201 Hogback, Ann Arbor, MI 48105.
