Dangers of Social Media – Creps Facebook Sentencing

Paul Joseph Creps was sentenced yesterday to 10-15 years in prison for the sexual assault of two (2) underage girls in Ypsilanti Township.

Detective Everette RobbinsThe investigation also revealed hundreds of images of child pornography on Creps’ cellular phone.  Several other potential victims were identified throughout the investigation, but to investigators knowledge did not go through with the sexual acts he requested.  Creps would troll Facebook for girls between the ages of 12 and 14.  He would send multiple friend requests and talk the girls into giving out their phone numbers.  He would then coerce or attempt to coerce them into sneaking out with him, lure them into his truck, and sexually assault them.  His victims were nationwide.  This case is a good reminder of the dangers of social media with young children.

A special acknowledgment to Det. Everette Robbins for his in-depth work in this investigation and the outstanding technical support and assistance from Det. Kevin Parviz.Detective Kevin Parviz
