Shop with a Cop 2012

The Shop with a Cop Program involves Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Deputies and other Washtenaw County law enforcement officers, donating their time to take a group of children on a Holiday shopping spree. Children are selected by referrals from our local school districts and school resource officers.

Shop with a CopDonated gift cards are provided to each child who then buy Holiday gifts for their family members while shopping at Wal-Mart and Meijer.  The event is strongly supported by Wal-Mart (Ypsilanti), Marriott Ann Arbor Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest and Meijer (Scio Township).  Dinner for the children and officers, gift wrapping by volunteers, crafts, entertainment, and a picture with Santa conclude the evening.  The program provides children an opportunity to experience the personal rewards of giving to others and brightening up their own holiday season.

We have been extremely lucky to have Wal-Mart, Meijer and Marriott continue to support our program.  If you would like to make a donation or participate in the Shop with a Cop Program to help Washtenaw County law enforcement officers make the holidays a little more enjoyable for these children and their families please contact Lt. Jim Anuszkiewicz (East) or Sgt. Keith Flores (West).

To help support our program, please make checks payable to WCSO – SHOP WITH A COP EAST or WCSO – SHOP WITH A COP WEST and mail to CSO Gloria Toutant, C/O Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, 2201 Hogback Rd., Ann Arbor, MI  48105.  For non-monetary donations or further information, please contact Lt.
