Citizens Police Academy

Interested in getting a hands-on, behind the scenes, real life view of law enforcement in Washtenaw County?

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office cordially invites you to particpate in our Citizen's Police Academy. Due to the overwhelming interest last year, we are going to host 2 sessions this year, a Spring and Fall session.

The Citizen's Police Academy is an informational overview for citizens to better understand what the Sheriff’s Office/Law Enforcement has to offer them. We are hoping to take away any misconceptions that television and movies have brought upon our profession.

The classes are once a week for 10 weeks from 6-9pm starting March 14th. We will have a jail tour, some scenario based applications, use of the FATS (Firearms Training Simulator) at WCC as well as Special Units, investigations, and Emergency Management.

If you are interested or know of someone that is please contact Sgt. Beth Gieske or Deputy Ray and we will send you an application.

Hope to see you there,

Deputy Ray Yee
