Speedway Robber Apprehended


On Tuesday the Speedway gas station at 1395 E. Michigan Ave. was robbed. The suspect was I.D.'d by deputies and received a tip from several citizens pointing deputies to his location.

Deputies from the Community Policing Team arrested the suspect from the Speedway Gas station robbery which occurred on 8/9/2011. 

Several Sheriff's Deputies were able to I.D. the suspect from the store video that captured the incident as it happened. Several citizen tips helped to I.D. the location of the suspect. Thanks to that information officers located the suspect in the 1300 block of Red Leaf Ave, Ypsilanti Twp, on 8/10/2011. The suspect was taken into custody at approximately 8:00PM without incident. Investigators will forward a copy of their report to the Prosecutor for review. 

Deputies from Ypsilanti Twp were called to 1395 East Michigan Ave on 8/9/2011 for a robbery at the Speedway gas station. The call came in at about 11:30PM. Multiple police units responded, along with a K-9 unit. The victim told deputies that a man came into the gas station with his shirt pulled over his face. The suspect then punched the clerk and took money out of the cash register. Investigators were able to develop suspect information from the description by the clerk. No arrest has been made at the time of this posting. The clerk/victim sustained minor injuries. The incident remains under investigation.

White male 5’6” 200lbs 
Brown hair wearing: white t-shirt and black shorts
