2 Arrested, Several Computers Recovered!

2 arrests have been made and several computers were recovered from the approximately 80 computers stolen from Ypsilanti Public Schools.

On April 19, 2011 The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the theft of approximately 80 iMac computers stolen from the West Middle School and George School in Ypsilanti Township. The computers were property of the Ypsilanti Public Schools.

 During the course of the investigation detectives recovered four computers, arrested two individuals and have begun the process of tracking down and recovering the remaining computers. The WCSO is informing all individuals that purchased one of the stolen computers of a no questions asked return process. As we begin collecting the remaining computers one by one we are allowing for individuals with stolen property to return them by this Friday (May 6th) with no questions asked. However, anyone caught with stolen goods after Friday will be charged accordingly. You can return the computers to any Sheriff’s Office station or contact Deputy Ball (734-714-1070) directly to arrange for them to be picked up.

This investigation is still on going as additional individuals may have been involved.

Suspect 1 is 18 years old and is a resident of Ypsilanti Township.

Suspect 2 is 34 years old and is a resident of Ypsilanti Township.
