Shop With A Cop 2010

Each year Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office staff hosts dozens of kids from across Washtenaw County. Each kid is teamed up with a deputy for the day and able to shop and buy gifts. It's our way of celebrating and giving back during the holiday season.

Last week the Dexter Schools, Meijer and the WCSO teamed up to support 31 youth from the western part of Washtenaw County. This week, thanks to the Marriot and Walmart we will be hosting youth from the eastern part of Washtenaw County.

Each year, Sheriff Deputies and the community team up to make the holidays special for Washtenaw County area kids, ages 7-12. This Thursday we will meet at the Marriott Eagle Crest on Huron St. where each kid will be paired up with a uniformed Deputy Sheriff for their shopping adventures. After shopping, they will return to the Marriott for gift-wrapping, socializing, and a chance to meet Santa.

Thank you to all of those that volunteered in Dexter and that are planning to volunteer on Thursday in Ypsilanti. Also, we'd like to thank all of those special people and businesses that have donated to make these two events possible.
