Over The Limit Under Arrest


Sheriff Jerry Clayton warns drivers about special traffic enforcement.

If you’re over the limit, you’ll be under arrest! Beginning October 29, 2010 the

Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, U of M Public Safety, Pittsfield Public Safety, Milan Police, Saline Police and Chelsea Police will step up enforcement and be on the lookout for impaired drivers in Washtenaw County around the Halloween Weekend. This takes place from October 29 through October 31.

Law enforcement officer will work over 100 hours just in Washtenaw COunty designated for drunken driving enforecement. Enforcement is paid by the federal traffic safety funds administrated by the Office of Highway Safety planning (OHSP).

Alcohol-involved crashes tend to be more serious than non-drinking crashes and injuries are more serious for drivers and passengers who have been drinking.

In Michigan, a motorist can be arrested for drunk driving with a .08 blood alcohol content of higher. A drunk-driving conviction carries with it an assortment of penalties, including court costs and fines, increased car insurance rates, legal fees and $2,000 in driver responsibilities fees.

Partiers need to have a plan; designate a sober driver, or simply call a cab to get you home safely.
