John Sting 9-29-11

On 9/29/11 the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office along with the City of Ypsilanti Police Department conducted a prostitution sting as part of the E.A.S.Y. project.

Enforcement Against Streetwalkers in Ypsilanti (E.A.S.Y.) is a proactive response to the problem of  prostitution along the Michigan Avenue corridor in the City of Ypsilanti and Ypsilanti Township.

For years, traditional tactics of simply arresting known prostitutes or those that solicit prostitutes have been ineffective. E.A.S.Y. however, brings together law enforcement, human services, the judicial system and elected officials in an effort to provide the resources needed for someone to remove themselves from a life of prostitution and ultimately clean up the streets of Ypsilanti Township and the City of Ypsilanti.

The "John" stings seek to focus on the demand side of the local prostitution problem. As part of changing the culture of prostitution in our community those arrested for solicitation of prostitution will be posted here publicly.
