Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Metro-Dispatch is the first link between emergency service providers and the public we serve.  Our role is to provide professional and courteous dispatching services for police agencies throughout Washtenaw County.  We emphasize efficient, effective and coordinated service delivery as an integral part of the Sheriff’s Office mission of creating public safety, providing quality service and building strong and sustainable communities.   

About Us


Metro-Dispatch provides police dispatching services for the Sheriff's Office, Ann Arbor Police Department, Huron Area Metro Parks Police, Michigan State Police, Northfield Township Police and the Ypsilanti Police Department, while providing non-emergency and emergency 911 services to the citizens of Washtenaw County. Washtenaw County Metro DispatchOn average, Metro Dispatch handles in excess of 1000 emergency and non-emergency calls every day.

Metro-Dispatch is staffed by 29 full time Dispatch Operators, 10 to 15 part time Call Takers, 3 Dispatch Operations Coordinators (Supervisors) and a Dispatch Manager for 24 hour operations. Each dispatcher and part-time call taker completes a 3 week dispatch academy followed by an intensive on-the-job internal training regimen provided by skilled training officers. They receive additional specialized training in various dispatch related concerns such as suicide intervention, crisis negotiations, hazardous material accident response, etc.
