"Battle of the Badges" Blood Drive-

The Washtenaw County Sheriffs Office is pleased to host the kickoff Blood Drive for the American Red Cross “Battle of the Badges” Campaign.   Throughout the summer American Red Cross will be hosting various “Battle of the Badges” campaigns in Washtenaw County.  Participating individuals can decide who receives their donation by designating either Law Enforcement or Firefighter/EMS.

America’s blood supply is an important piece of our country’s ability to respond to disasters. When every second counts, blood on the shelves saves lives.

As a blood donor you can help by committing to give through your American Red Cross. You can also make a difference by asking your friends and families to give, or by volunteering at or sponsoring a blood drive in your community.

Every day, hospitals need more than 44,000 blood donations for the care of individuals suffering from serious diseases, accidents or trauma. When disaster strikes, the need can be even greater. Your blood donation this July – during Disaster Education Awareness Month – can help build a blood supply strong enough to meet every day and emergency needs.

Please make and keep your appointment to donate blood, and encourage others to give, too. An American Red Cross blood drive is scheduled on Wednesday, July 11th , from 12:00pm to 5:00 pm at 4135 Washtenaw Avenue (Library Resource Center), room B.

For more information, or to reserve a time for donation, you can go to the American Red Cross website at www.redcrossblood.org  enter blood drive sponsor code: washtenaw.  You can also contact Sgt Beth Gieske at gieskeb@ewashtenaw.org or (734) 973-4694.

Thank you for all you do.
