Empco, Inc. has partnered with the Michigan Sheriff's Association to provide these written entrance examinations. The tests include both cognitive and attitude/personality testing components. The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office requires a passing score of at least 75% to remain eligible for positions requiring the written exam. Applicants are not required to wait until a position is posted to participate in an exam. When registering for the Corrections and/or Law Enforcement (Deputy) exams, applicants are given the option to choose multiple counties throughout the state of Michigan; those County Sheriff's Offices can view your scores and use this process for recruitment purposes. For additional information and to register for a test, please visit https://www.empco.net/msa.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office is also a proud testing site for these written examinations (see below schedule). The testing will be held at the Learning Resource Center (LRC) located at 4135 Washtenaw Avenue, Ann Arbor, MI 48108. Please arrive thirty (30) minutes prior to the scheduled test time and make sure to bring your valid photo ID; please secure purses, cell phones, etc. in your vehicle prior to entering the testing facility. The test will begin promptly at the listed time; you will not be permitted in the testing room if you arrive late, you will have to re-register for another test, and your money may not be refunded.
