Office of the Sheriff
The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office will be closed on Monday, February 15, 2016 in observance of President’s Day. Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, February 16, 2016.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office Deputy Urban and K-9 Fred have been awarded "case-of-the-quarter" by the United States Police Canine Association. Deputy Urban and K-9 Fred were recognized for their outstanding performance in assisting a neighboring agency with the timely and safe arrest of a wanted felonious domestic assault suspect with a violent history.
In the less than five months since Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office deputies began carrying Naloxone, they have saved 11 lives. This number does not reflect the lives saved where Sheriff’s Office deputies were on the scene but HVA or EMT-trained firefighter personnel administered the Naloxone. This equates to more than two lives saved per month because deputies who were first on the scene carried Naloxone, were trained to use it and immediately administered it when encountering a suspected heroin overdose.
