Brown Park Pond Reconstruction

The April 2000 Malletts Creek Restoration Plan recommends reconstruction of the Brown Park Pond to improve habitat, reduce phosphorus pollution by 25% and continue to provide flood control.

Brown Park is owned by the Malletts Creek Drainage District and is leased to the City of Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation Department. The park is used for active recreation by the surrounding neighborhoods and by the local disc golf community. The north end of the disc golf course is located in the floodplain of Brown Park Pond -- the area where the redesign will take place.

The pond was constructed in 1977 to store water for flood control in heavy storms. It was not designed to address water quality issues.

Share Your Ideas with the Project Team

A second public meeting will be held on July 10, 2003 at Cobblestone Farm, 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. The goal of the meeting is to share ideas about the design alternatives to be presented.
