Health Services Access

Health Services Access is the central entry point for all Washtenaw County Medicaid eligible and indigent (uninsured) children and adults requesting mental health and/or substance abuse information and services.


REQUESTS FOR MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES

All persons requesting mental health or substance abuse services will be screened by a licensed behavioral health professional that can provide information, referral, and authorization for covered services.

The behavioral health clinicians make eligibility and clinical determinations for services utilizing the following:
            Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV)
            Regional Utilization Management & Service Authorization Guidelines (large PDF)
            American society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Patient Placement Criteria for the Treatment of Substance Related Disorders.

All persons approved for services will be referred and authorized for services to WCHO contracted mental health and substance abuse providers.  A list of providers can be obtained from the Health Services Access Department.
