Bill Of Rights&Responsibilities
Client Involvement
I will be encouraged to ask questions and obtain a clear understanding of decisions regarding services, and actively participate in the Person Centered Planning Process.
I will have an opportunity to give my opinions regarding services through satisfaction surveys, small groups or other means and also have my opinions considered in policy making committees and boards.
I will be treated, along with my family and/or others as I designate, as a partner whose input is as important as that of staff.
Quality Services
I am entitled to effective and prompt services of high quality. These services are evaluated in order to continuously improve them.
I will be treated in a caring manner, with courtesy and respect, by all staff, who will make their expectations and actions clear.
I am assured that information about me will be kept private and confidential within Washtenaw County Community Mental Health and its contract agencies, expect when I give permission or as permitted or required by law.
I will receive services which are designed to assist me to maintain stability and quality of life while working to attain appropriate independence.
I will feel safe when I am participating in services.
I have the right to services provided by staff who have learned about my strengths, as well as areas where I need to improve, so as to be able to serve me effectively.

My Responsibilities As A Client
To the best of my ability...
Be accountable for my own actions, and for the consequences of those actions. Understanding that freedom to choose carries with it the responsibility for my choices.
Keep appointment times as scheduled or to telephone in advance to cancel.
Understand what my financial obligation will be, and to be responsible for the cost of services based on my ability to pay.
Respect the rights, privacy and beliefs of others by showing courtesy and consideration.
Shared with staff my experience of services, of what staff do well, and what they could do better.
As a client of Washtenaw County Community Support and Treatment Services, you also have rights guaranteed by Michigan's Mental Health Code and other laws. You are encouraged to ask questions about your treatment and about your rights, and to make choices that you feel are in your best interest.
If you have questions about your services or feel that your rights have been violated, you should inform your client Services Manager, Supports Coordinator, other staff or the Office of Recipient Rights. The process for filing a Recipient Rights Complaint is described in the Recipient Rights brochure, Your Rights.
Please be assured that your current or future services or access to services will not be affected in any way because you present a complaint.
For some concerns you may use the Problem Resolution or the Grievance and Appeal Process, which is somewhat less formal. You may also contact the Washtenaw County Community Support and Treatment Services Director or Member Services who will insure that your concerns are addressed promptly and with regard to your confidentiality.
