Vaccines available for children 6 weeks through 18 years

Did you know? To prevent the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases, the Michigan School Immunization Law requires that children receive a series of immunizations and boosters before entry into schools, child care centers and family child care homes. Our family immunizations program provides routine childhood and adolescent vaccines as recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, and as required by Michigan schools. Tuberculosis (TB) skin testing and limited adult immunizations are also available.

Please bring any previous immunization records with you to your visit. Parent or legal guardian MUST be present for the entire visit in order for children to receive their immunizations.

• HPV (available only to Washtenaw County residents without insurance coverage for this vaccine. Please contact the Adult Health clinic at 544-6840)

• Shingles Vaccine - a limited number of doses of shingles (Zoster) vaccine is now available for adults 60 years and older whose insurance does not cover or reimburse for this vaccine. Cost of the vaccine is $10.00 (cash or check only). Due to the limited amount available, preference will be given to Washtenaw County residents.
  
  Please note: This vaccine is provided through a temporary grant from the Michigan Department of Community Health. Seniors whose insurance will provide coverage or reimbursement for this vaccine DO NOT meet the requirements for this grant. Therefore they will need to contact their primary care provider or one of the pharmacies listed below to receive this vaccine.

• Tuberculin skin tests (TST/Mantoux/PPD).
  Note: You must return to the health department to have your skin test read 48 to 72 hours after it was placed. Because of that, skin tests cannot be placed on Thursdays nor can they be placed on Fridays preceeding a Monday holiday. We are unable to read skin tests from other providers.

Although we don't offer the shingles vaccine for individuals with insurance coverage, we do have two area resources for seniors (age 60 years and up)!

Seniors will need to call the sites directly for information on appointments, payments, insurance, etc before they go there to get the shot. Here are the pharmacies:
