Washtenaw County Flu Activity
March 10, 2010: Local influenza activity is extremely low right now. There was only one case of lab-confirmed novel H1N1 (swine flu) reported in February in Washtenaw County. Respiratory illness rates in schools are still moderate (see flu curve). No seasonal influenza cases have been detected yet in Washtenaw residents for this flu season. It is possible that another wave of H1N1 and/or seasonal flu could occur in the coming months.

Influenza Cases and Hospitalizations by Age Group (pdf). The highest number of hospitalizations have been in 25 - 49 year olds, followed by 5 - 24 year olds and 50-64 year olds. However, 0-4 year olds and 65+ are being hospitalized at a disproportionate rate to being diagnosed with influenza.
