Partner Notification and Contact Tracing

STD/HIV intervention, prevention and control is a cooperative effort that involves the client, health care providers, and the health department. Partner notification has been shown to be an effective means of identifying, treating, and counseling at-risk individuals.

Typically, the process is initiated when the health department receives an HIV or STD case report. The health department contacts the patient to ensure they are in treatment, to provide accurate education about the infection and to discuss ways to prevent the infection in the future. The health department will also locate exposed partners and coordinate their medical follow-up. Patient/partner confidentiality is paramount.

For more information or to request partner notification for STDS contact Alexandra Doudetskaia at 734-544-6765 for more information. For HIV you may contact Stephanie Rosales at 734-544-3063.
