Tune in to 89.1 FM

Issues of the Environment
Weekly radio show that airs each Wednesday at 8:20am.

  • Wednesday, July 29: Laura Robinson, President of Citizens for Oilfree Backyards, will discuss the lawsuit the group filed on July 23, 2014 in order to block drilling for oil wells in Scio Township.

The Green Room
Monthly radio show that airs the last Friday of each month at 6:50am and 8:20am.

  • Friday, July 25: Monarchs in the Midwest & GMO’s
The concepts and controversies are as big as the earth. But their impacts can be tiny, as well, as small as a fluttering orange and black butterfly, that flies thousands of miles all the way from Mexico every year in a miraculous yet fragile migration. In this installment of WEMU’s “The Green Room,” Barbara Lucas looks at the possible connection between the plummeting numbers of the Monarch butterfly, our local populations of the milkweed wildflower crucial to their reproduction, and the booming use of genetically-modified crops.

Tune in to 89.1FM WEMU to hear the shows on air, or listen to archived shows on our Issues of the Environment and The Green Room pages. For questions or ideas for future show topics, please contact Mary Mathias. Thanks for listening!
