Tune in to 89.1 FM

Issues of the Environment
Weekly radio show that airs each Wednesday at 8:20am.

  • Wednesday, April 22: Drew Lathin with Creating Sustainable Landscapes, LLC, will discuss the benefits of sustainable landscaping for Washtenaw County residents, including how raingardens and native plants are low maintenance alternatives to traditional lawns.
  • Wednesday, April 30:  Spaulding Clark, Scio Township Supervisor, will discuss seismic testing in Scio Township and explain a bit about how oil companies procure the necessary leases needed to drill for oil or natural gas.

The Green Room
Monthly radio show that airs the last Friday of each month at 6:50am and 8:20am.

  • Friday, March 28:  Finally!  It’s time for our migrating birds to return, such as chimney swifts, which come here all the way from South America to raise their young. Their numbers have gone down 65% in the last 50 years. In the March installment of WEMU’s “The Green Room,” Barbara Lucas explores the current and future status of our local chimney swifts.

Tune in to 89.1FM WEMU to hear the shows on air, or listen to archived shows on our Issues of the Environment and The Green Room pages. For questions or ideas for future show topics, please contact Mary Mathias. Thanks for listening!
