September is Infant Safe Sleep Awareness month in Michigan
The number of infants who die from SIDS has dropped remarkably since the medical community realized the connection between stomach sleeping and infant asphyxiation.
All parents now receive instruction on infant safe sleep during the hospital delivery visit. But other care givers, such as grandparents, may still want to tuck their grandchildren into bed with stuffed animals and blankets. Watch the video on this page to find out why that is a bad idea. Babies should always go to sleep alone, on their backs, in a crib. For more information on infant mortality in Washtenaw County please visit our 3x More Likely page
