Know the Facts about the H1N1 Vaccine
Getting the vaccine is the best protection you have against the flu. The 2009 H1N1 vaccine is made the same way as the seasonal flu vaccine. Millions of seasonal flu vaccines have been given safely. Millions of people have also safely recieved H1N1 vaccine.
The H1N1 vaccine is given in two ways:
- You can get the nasal spray if you're healthy, not pregnant, and are between 2 and 49 years old.
- Most people 6 months and older can get the shot.

A seasonal flu shot will not protect you from the H1N1 flu.
You have more of a chance of getting severely ill from the H1N1 flu if you are:
- Pregnant
- Between the ages of 6 months and 24 years
- Between 25 and 64 with underlying health conditions like asthma, diabetes, heart disease, or lung disease
