Congratulations to the Solid Waste Team!
The Washtenaw County Solid Waste Team was recognized by the Michigan Recycling Coalition at its annual awards banquet as the "Recycler of the Year, Outstanding Recycling Program" for their efforts in developing an unused pharmaceutical take back program.
Washtenaw County is the first in Michigan to establish an unused pharmaceutical take back program with local pharmacies. Working along with Office of the Water Resources Commissioner, Janis Bobrin, Jeff Krcmarik and Dan Moody have partnered with local pharmacies to provide a safe collection method for unused medications. If improperly disposed, unused medications can cause an accidental poisoning or environmental damage. Go to dontflushdrugs.com to see what services are provided to Washtenaw County residents and which pharmacies are participants.
Nice job Janis, Jeff, and Dan! |
