Washtenaw County Community Supports and Treatment Services (CSTS) offers Social Work internships which provide an outstanding opportunity to develop clinical skills and to contribute to systems change through advocacy and community organization strategies. Washtenaw Community Support and Treatment Services provides community based clinical services to children and adults affected by developmental disability or mental illness, and is interested in community partnerships that improve the lives of consumers. This position would provide hands-on experience in developing connections with key community partners to facilitate the process of increasing natural supports and enhancing the integration of consumers in the full life of the community. Working in partnership with persons with disability, the intern will learn how to approach community partners, develop formal and informal working agreements, focus on project development and utilize community organizing and project management skills. There is also the opportunity to work with individuals with co-occurring substance abuse disorders as well as administrative placement opportunities.
